While dancing might seem easy if you’re a spectator watching it from the sideline as soon as you chime in to learn, it is actually a long and arduous error-and-trial experience!
Nevertheless, never mind that as that’s the ultimate reason why our studio hired a dozen of professional and seasoned dancing instructors…
All of them will be ready to give you a helping hand (or a leg) at any time!
Referred by many as ‘sifu’ you can’t get a mentor quite like Miko. Viva Vertical’s own master trainer and choreographer, Miko followed her passions from the early days of So You Think You Can Dance to pole and aerial glory in various productions and competitions. Her discipline and fortitude is an inspiration to the team whilst her commitment to seeing her students.
This ladyboss needs no introductions, she is one of Viva Vertical’s pioneer Pole Leaders with over 18 years of experience in dance; as a teacher, choreographer and performer. Nana (a.k.a Shan) is not only the manager of Viva Vertical studios and Viva Circus (our very own performance team) but also artistic director of Viva’s productions over the last few years. S
If you come to Viva Vertical and see a pair of long legs in PVC boots, look up and get acquainted with our very own senior pole/aerial instructor and performer, Kitt. Meticulous and hard-working, her heart is set on imparting on her students the same strength and flexibility she has gained over the years. A certified yoga instructor (as well!) and all-round athlete.
Much beloved by her army of students, you can refer to Angel as your teacher, trainer and motivator. Part of Viva’s senior team, she guides her students from newbie to polerina/aerialista with careful planning and unwavering support. Fun-sized yet stong, she is dedicated in helping her students gain the ability to perform gravity-defying moves with certainty.
Yen is no stranger to the bright lights of showbusiness, having spent 12 years in the industry as a commercial dancer. You’ll recognise her from Viva’s many company performances, as a senior aerialist and pole performer. As an instructor, Yen strives to help her students push past their doubts and fears in order to improve and be able to achieve their physical best.
Drawing inspiration from her diverse dance exposure, Pui Yi focuses on flow movement and sensuality whilst teaching the ins and outs of dynamic and graceful tricks. Specialising in exotic/burlesque dance, her choreography is stylistic; playing on musicality and quality of movement to bring out the motion in music.
Yasuaki is the head coach and founder of Tumble Star Gym from Japan. His career experiences has seen him teaching kids and adults alike in a variety of disciplines, including acorbatic/artistic gymnastic, circus acro-balance and flying trapeze. Having spent over 10 years putting the ‘Joy’ in fitness in several lands (indonesia, Australia, and now Malaysia).
Shernes knew she wanted to be a pole instructor since her first spin at Viva Vertical. She was in love with the challenge that Pole presented but also with how it helped herself and others become more confident in their own skin. Currently specialising in exotic pole, you can see Shernes executing her flips and drops in sky high heels whilst teaching her students to do the same.
Mai works the stage as a company aerialist and works her students in the pole room. Having taught Pole Fitness to both adults and children, Mai is a steadfast and patient instructor. She coaches with precision to help you gain the necessary skills to achieve those dream moves/tricks whilst providing a supportive environment to learn in.
A company aerialist and pole instructor, Nathalee is a lawyer by profession and a dancer by passion. Her list of influences range from tap and modern dance to ballroom dancesports and even rhythmic gymnastics. An associate and registered ballet teacher of the RAD, Nathalee brings her strong classical dance background to the pole room.
Sheila has intertwined her love for fitness with her passion for aerial arts and pole dance sport. Our company aerialist and a trickster at heart, she specialises in strength moves with drops and stunts galore. A friendly and committed instructor, she is happy to share her love for the power of the human body with her students.
When not teaching students how to roll and tumble in the air, Noah is the troupe leader and artistic director of Team Theatre; coaching a new generation of actors, directors and technicions in theatrical arts. You’ll notice his distict background in his performances and teaching style, with a flair for drama and lots of fun.
Sam started her journey with Viva Vertical as an eager student before she turned company performer in both aerial arts and pole. She loves to teach; taking much joy in inspriring and helping others achieve their fitness goals whilst dancing to their heart’s content. You can hear Sam belting out her favourite line ‘Hate me now, thank me later’ over the grunts and laughter of her students.
Cindy has always been fascinated by the versatility of pole. Her love for pole dance and fitness stems from its unique ability to be interpreted in so many different ways and styles. A dedicated instructor, she believes in putting a little bit of yourself in every move whilst encouraging her students to express themselves through dance and fitness.
Being grounded is boring. Bee Nee found aerial arts at Viva Vertical and has never looked back. Her passion lies in Flyoga and its unique blend of relaxation and thrill. Whether avid yogi or first timer, Bee Nee loves to guide her students through the process of building the strength, balance and flexibility to be able to achieve individual and partner poses.
